ANDOVER NEW STREET - CLUB HISTORY

New Street Football Club was formed in the 1890s by the vicar of St Mary's Church, Andover to keep the youth of the town off the streets.

The club was originally called St Mary's Youth then St Mary's Swifts and in 1895 settled under the banner of New Street.

The club declined during the war years and collapsed in the 1950's only to be reformed in 1961. It shared Walled Meadow with Andover F.C. and also played at London Road and The Drove. Finally in 1992 the club moved to its present home at Foxcotte Park and changed its name to Andover New Street in 1999.

The club has played in the Andover & District League, North Hants League, Hampshire League and the Wessex Combination League. When the Wessex League and Hampshire League amalgamated at the end of 2003/2004 season the club moved to the Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1. In the final season of the Hampshire League the club were League runners up and won the League Cup.

The club runs a full range of youth teams and a successful team in Division 1 of the Hampshire County Women's League. The club holds Community Charter Standard.

The club is continually improving the ground and only last year installed a new stand for spectators.
