A team was formed in the 1880's called Hamworthy St Michael's, winning their first trophy, the Whitehead Minor Cup in the 1899-1900 season. Hamworthy Football Club was formed in 1926 and moved to the present ground formally known as the Nursery Ground in 1950. The Club amalgamated with Trinidad Old Boys at the start of the 1971-1972 season to form Hamworthy United Football Club as it is known today. Hamworthy United have had great sucess at all levels over the years in various competitions, and hold the record of having been the only team to have played in every season of the Dorset Combination League since its formation, until it finished to become the Dorset Premier League at the end of the 2001 - 2002 season. After winning the League two years running they were promoted to the Wessex League Division One, winning the Wessex League Cup in their first season. 1ST TEAM HONOURS SINCE BECOMING HAMWORTHY UNITED 1976-1977 Dorset Combination League Winners (Manager Billy Elliott) and Dorset Senior Cup Finalists.
