WARMINSTER TOWN - CLUB HISTORY
Football in Warminster can be traced back to 1878, but this only lasted until 1883. Two or
three years later, a Warminster Town Club was formed and started playing in local
leagues and around the turn of the century, they progressed to win a number of trophies.

It has been difficult to maintain senior football on a number of occasions, but entry into
the Western League was achieved in 1930 and lasted until the summer of 1939. During
these nine seasons, which were all played in Division 2, the club finished in the top half of
the table only twice, with the highest position being 7th in the first campaign. After the War
the club played in the Wiltshire County League until entry to the Great Mills Western
League was gained once more in 1983.

The club has never set the Great Mills League alight, however the 1991/2 and 1992/3
seasons proved to be the club's most productive with a final League positiuon of 5th in
Division 1 on each occasion. No less than 9 club records were set in 1991/2 and a
further three in the following year.

The 1996/7 season was something of a disappointment after the success of those two
earlier years, when the team finished fifth from bottom, but everyone connected with the
club is confident that the corner has been turned both on & off the field, and that
Warminster Town F.C. can approach the future with optimism.

Season 2006/7 saw the club enter the Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1, finishing a
creditable 8th position and making many new friends along the way.

Warminster Town was very proud to have been the first team from Wiltshire and the first
team outside the Premier Division to win the Friendliest Club award especially in the first
season.

Warminster Town also won the Wiltshire F.A. Floodlight League Fair Play Award, The
Trowbridge League 1st Division and overall Fair Play Award and were runners up in the
Wiltshire County F.A. Fair Play Award (Senior Section).

Warminster Town is run with a structured management team and with very strict
financial control.
