ALRESFORD LOOK TO TREBLE WINNERS

May 26, 2023

Alresford Town have announced the appointment of Connor Doswell, Nathan Morgan and Jamie Nash as their new management team.

The trio make the jump from Hampshire Premier League side, Colden Common, where they claimed a coveted treble this season - including back-to-back Senior Division titles.

They'll be looking to turn things around on the pitch, following a season to forget where Alresford found themselves cast adrift at the foot of the Premier Division, and will ply their trade in Division One in 2023/24.

Doswell (pictured left), and Morgan (centre) will once again be joint managers, while Nash (right) returns to Arlebury Park as assistant, following two previous spells as a player.

A club statement included comment from the new managers: “We’re excited to be joining the club and look forward to bringing back the feel-good factor of football in Alresford.

“Our team will be organized, our players will always work hard to compete as a team, and we’ll look at a high tempo approach which focuses on keeping pressure high up the pitch.”

The statement (from the club) continued; "Nathan and Connor have a history of developing a team which not only loves to win but is connected off the pitch and competes for each other on it.

We are excited to welcome them to our club and more excited to see them hit the road running. Finding the right fit for our club was a priority and we know we’ve found the management team which ticks all the boxes on and off the field to help us achieve our goals."

Brett Pitman was one the mark once again to ensure Shaftesbury claimed a promotion berth at the expense of play-off hosts, AFC Stoneham. Pitman's solitary strike proved to be decisive in the Premier Division play-off final on Saturday, to give the Rockies a narrow 1-0 victory - the talisman's 61st goal in all competitions. Our congratulations to Shaftesbury on achieving Step 4 football for the first time.
