Fewer matches this midweek but seven on Tuesday spread across the two Divisions. In the Premier Division there were wins for three clubs very much in the top half of the table but perhaps the most important result involved two clubs troubled by relegation thoughts. Hythe and Dibden’s fine win at Moneyfields on Saturday took them to within six points of Bournemouth so a win on Tuesday when the two Clubs met at Victoria Park would have reduced the deficit to three but it was the Poppies who came our on top, goals from Kyle Graham and Shane Barney giving them victory and taking the points difference to nine.

Returning to the upper reaches of the table two goals apiece from Keiron O’Donnell and Silvano Obeng ensured a four nil win for Brockenhurst at Cowes Sports and there was also success on the road for Bashley and Shaftesbury. Bashley won three one at Alresford with goals from Jamie Webber, Harry Bunce and Matt Tubbs – the latter could be an inspired signing – with a Brandon Chennell penalty the home reply. Shaftesbury also scored three, though without any response, at Christchurch whose mini-revival seems to have hit the buffers at the moment. Gary Bowles, Aiden Shepherd and Sam Davidson were the visiting scorers.

In Division One the clash between Follands and Newport, both very much promotion contenders, ended all square at Hamble with Jordan Browne’s strike for the Island side being cancelled out by Ethan Anders. Andover New Street followed up their seven goals at Millbrook on Saturday with seven more at home to Ash United. Josh Jeffery led the way with his first hat trick for the club, Reece Rusher claimed two and Shane Locke and Adam Pearson completed the seven. Street also missed a penalty while Ash’s goal came from Sanjay Baniya with literally the last kick of the game. Lastly in the Division goals from Ollie Davies and Sam Howe gave Downton a two nil win over Fleet Spurs.

In the Quarter Final of the Hampshire Senior Cup Andover Town put up a highly creditable performance before going down two one at Eastleigh, Ben Emans with the Town goal while at the same stage in the Portsmouth Senior Cup Moneyfields, as would be expected, gained a comfortable seven one win over Hampshire Premier League Hayling United with goals from Dec Seiden (2), Rob Evans, Joe Briggs, Mig Dark, James Franklyn and Danny Burroughs.

Three matches on Wednesday and a phenomenal attendance of 627 at AFC Stoneham for the visit of Portsmouth in the Third Round of the Hampshire Senior Cup. The Football League side fielded their Academy side who overcame a battling performance from the hosts in a game that ended 1-1 with Duarte Martins scoring for Stoneham. Pompey won the penalty shoot out 5-4.

The remaining two games were in the Southampton Senior Cup with predictable results. In a Third Round tie Blackfield and Langley defeated Follands Reserves by four goals to one and in the Second Round Millbrook scored seven without reply against HPL side Sway. Blackfield’s goals were scored by Jack Nicholas, Owen Fee, Wayne Robinson and Ali Zintany while Mark Barker led the way for Millbrook with four backed by singles from Perry Harding, Callum Drake and Martyn Randall.

AFC Stoneham held their nerve to edge-out Haywards Heath Town on penalties and reach the FA Vase quarter finals for the first time. Duarte Martins put the Purps ahead early in the second half, before the hosts levelled through Henry Watson with six minutes remaining in front of 674 at Hanbury Park Stadium. However, Martins scored the decisive spot kick to continue Stoneham's run in the competition, and join fellow Wessex side, Downton in the last eight. Stoneham's victory sets-up a tie against United Counties League Premier Division South side, Coventry United. Downton meanwhile are also just two wins away from Wembley, reaching the quarter finals last week in beating Lymore Gardens 3-0 - they travel to SCEFL Premier Division side, Punjab United - ties to be played on February 28. Grassroots football clubs across the country are preparing for one of the most anticipated days in the non-league calendar as Non-League Day 2026 on Saturday, March 28 . The annual event, founded in 2010 by James Doe to celebrate and promote community-run football, is designed to fall on a weekend during the football international break — giving fans of Premier League and Football League clubs without fixtures the chance to explore non-league action. Non-League Day encourages supporters to head to local grounds up and down the country to watch live matches, meet volunteers who run their local clubs and experience the unique atmosphere of grassroots football. Find Wessex League Fixtures On Non-League Day With hundreds of fixtures traditionally taking place at Step 1–6 levels of the football pyramid, clubs often use the day to offer special incentives such as reduced admission prices and community activities to draw in new fans. For many clubs, Non-League Day is more than just a matchday — it’s a chance to spotlight the heart and soul of English football, where volunteer efforts and local pride keep the game thriving far from television lights. Organisers and club officials alike are expected to unveil specific fixtures, offers and events in the weeks leading up to the event. As anticipation builds toward March 28, the non-league community is gearing up for a celebration of football in its purest form — one that brings supporters together, strengthens club-town bonds and champions the grassroots game at every level.
