Another brief round up – and more work for the Fixtures Secretary – as the overall score on Tuesday evening was "The Weather" seven "The Wessex League" four with heavy rain causing the postponement of five matches in the Premier Division and two in Division One.

The only League match played was at Shaftesbury where the home side pushed themselves in to the promotion picture with a best of three goals victory over Brockenhurst.  Shaftesbury led one nil at the break before going on to win with strikes from Luke Burbidge and Ben Satterley outweighing one from Joe Chamberlain.

Extra time was needed at the County Ground to decide the Dorset Senior Cup Final after a lasr gasp goal from Hamworthy United’s Jamie Filkins left the scores level after ninety minutes, but with the only goal in extra time going to Poole Town it was the Southern League side that lifted the Trophy.

Hamble Club reached the Third Round of the Southampton Senior Cup with a two one victory at AFC Stoneham courtesy of goals from Clayd Roach and Jamie Ovington, with George Ockwell netting the home consolation.

At Royal Wootton Bassett, Bemerton Heath moved emphatically in to the Final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup with an eight nil defeat of Wiltshire Senior League side Marlborough Town. The two Clubs are only one level apart but the difference was magnified by the fact that Bemerton are very much chasing promotion while their opponents are fighting against relegation. Harry Beckley led the scoring with a hat trick, Jusrin Bennett claimed two and there were singles from Cameron Roach, Ethan Trigwell and Ronan Clancy.

The weather continued to hold sway on Wednesday with just one of the three scheduled matches completed and that, thankfully, a League fixture. A Waterside derby to be precise with Blackfield and Langley defeating Hythe and Dibden by three goals to one at Gang Warily. All the goals came in the first half with Owen Fee (2) and Ali Zintani netting for the home side and Callum Beasley replying for the visitors.

Bemerton will have to wait until next week to find out their opponents in the Wiltshire Senior Cup Final after the semi final between Malmesbury Victoria and Downton at Melksham was called off and the same fate befell the Isle of Wight Gold Cup tie between Newport and Oakfield. Moving a little higher up the footballing ladder Luton Town’s second goal, which gave them the lead for a while in their FA Cup Tie with Chelsea was scored by Harry Cornick who started his career at Christchurch back in 2012/13 where he scored seventeen goals in thirty three appearances before moving to AFC Bournemouth.

AFC Stoneham held their nerve to edge-out Haywards Heath Town on penalties and reach the FA Vase quarter finals for the first time. Duarte Martins put the Purps ahead early in the second half, before the hosts levelled through Henry Watson with six minutes remaining in front of 674 at Hanbury Park Stadium. However, Martins scored the decisive spot kick to continue Stoneham's run in the competition, and join fellow Wessex side, Downton in the last eight. Stoneham's victory sets-up a tie against United Counties League Premier Division South side, Coventry United. Downton meanwhile are also just two wins away from Wembley, reaching the quarter finals last week in beating Lymore Gardens 3-0 - they travel to SCEFL Premier Division side, Punjab United - ties to be played on February 28. Grassroots football clubs across the country are preparing for one of the most anticipated days in the non-league calendar as Non-League Day 2026 on Saturday, March 28 . The annual event, founded in 2010 by James Doe to celebrate and promote community-run football, is designed to fall on a weekend during the football international break — giving fans of Premier League and Football League clubs without fixtures the chance to explore non-league action. Non-League Day encourages supporters to head to local grounds up and down the country to watch live matches, meet volunteers who run their local clubs and experience the unique atmosphere of grassroots football. Find Wessex League Fixtures On Non-League Day With hundreds of fixtures traditionally taking place at Step 1–6 levels of the football pyramid, clubs often use the day to offer special incentives such as reduced admission prices and community activities to draw in new fans. For many clubs, Non-League Day is more than just a matchday — it’s a chance to spotlight the heart and soul of English football, where volunteer efforts and local pride keep the game thriving far from television lights. Organisers and club officials alike are expected to unveil specific fixtures, offers and events in the weeks leading up to the event. As anticipation builds toward March 28, the non-league community is gearing up for a celebration of football in its purest form — one that brings supporters together, strengthens club-town bonds and champions the grassroots game at every level.
