SUPPORT NON-LEAGUE DAY

After the twists and turns at the top of both Divisions in midweek, another batch of games that might make the positions clearer or, just as easily, might not.

Hamworthy United consolidated their position as Premier Division leaders in midweek and should collect three more points at Blackfield and Langley on Saturday. The two sides fought out a goalless draw earlier in the season but current form suggests a definite result this time round. Bashley, now in second place, entertain League Cup Finalists Fareham Town, and should start favourites while Shaftesbury AFC Portchester who have shown good form of late but the hosts goal scoring record at home is formidable.

NON-LEAGUE DAY - RESOURCES FOR CLUBS

Both Brockenhurst and Horndean have slipped over recent games and the former have no easy task with a visit to in form AFC Stoneham. Horndean are also on the road, with a trip to Portland, and could get back to winning ways against the youthful home side. Baffins Milton Rovers are finding their stride again and should come out on top at home to Alton while Alresford, after their seven goals in midweek, will be hopeful for three more points when Cowes Sports come calling.

Christchurch ensured Premier Division football at Hurn Bridge next season with their win on Wednesday evening but may find the points difficult to come by at US Portsmouth while Bournemouth should gain the one point they need to extend their Premier Division place when Hamble Club visit Victoria Park.

The weekend in Division One starts on FRIDAY evening with the visit of Romsey Town to near neighbours Totton and Eling. The Millers are very much in desperate straits and victories at present sadly look beyond them.

Two games involve two of the five Clubs leading the promotion race with both the two Andover sides at home. Andover New Street welcome Newport to Foxcotte Park and the game should be every bit as close as the earlier encounter between the sides which the Island side won by the odd goal in three.

WESSEX TABLES

Andover Town, in turn, host League Leaders Bemerton Heath at the Portway and need the three points, but that could well be a case of easier said than done. Follands, the other side in the top five, should be too strong for Millbrook at home while the only other two Clubs with realistic designs on the play offs are Laverstock and Ford and Downton. The first named have a free Saturday while Downton play hosts to East Cowes Vics in a game that has a 2.45pm kick off and should result in a home win.

New Milton will be favourites to prevail at home to Petersfield while Verwood will be hoping for a positive outcome at Ash United with their hosts struggling of late.

Last on the list is Ringwood against Whitchurch, two inconsistent sides but the home side are at present probably in the marginally better form.

All will be revealed come 5.00pm on Saturday!
