VASE GLORY FOR STONEHAM

May 17, 2026

AFC Stoneham capped a historic campaign by beating Cockfosters in the Isuzu FA Vase final at Wembley Stadium.

The Velocity Wessex League Premier Division champions triumphed 4-2 on penalties, after a ninety minutes of deadlock to conclude a quite remarkable season for James Phillips' side that yielded a total of four trophies.

Despite several chances, including both sides hitting the crossbar, it was spot-kicks that would decide the outcome of the final.

A save from Purps stopper Callum Lee and a penalty miss from Cockfosters defender Junior Moses, earned the club the coveted silverware under the arch.

During the ninety, Duarte Martins headed onto the bar before Lewis Nagle drilled a shot goalward, which was blocked by the defence to prevent an opener.

Teddy Stacey produced a goal-saving challenge for Cockfosters with around ten minutes remaining, denying substitute Owen Fee the chance to make an immediate impact.

It all came down to penalties and Purps stopper Lee was the hero, keeping out Adam Hastings who stepped up to take Cockfosters’ second effort from 12 yards.

Moses fired over the bar in the final kick of the shootout, smashing his effort high and wide to seal the win for the Stoneham and cue the celebrations.

A huge congratulations to all at AFC Stoneham on this fantastic achievement and all their success in 2025/26.
