WEEKEND PREVIEW - NOV 5

November 4, 2022

Just league action this week before the FA Vase comes in to play again and a virtually full programme in both Divisions.

In the Premier Division both the leaders are away with every chance of victory. Bemerton Heath travel down to US Portsmouth, whose form is on the patchy side, while AFC Portchester make the long journey along the coast to Portland who tend to struggle against the top sides.

Third place Horndean have a stiffer task with the visit of AFC Stoneham (pictured) to Five Heads Park, both clubs are in good form but the home side’s goal power may have the edge.

Moneyfields have been slowly climbing the table over recent matches and could continue to do so when they visit Brockenhurst whose form is inconsistent, and that description could also be applied to Fareham who may struggle against visitors Shaftesbury at Cams Alders.

Bournemouth against Laverstock & Ford could very easily go either way as could the meeting of Baffins Milton Rovers and Hythe & Dibden, both if whom are capable of scoring goals on the day. Blackfield & Langley gained their first victory last Saturday and will be looking to make it two when Cowes Sports visit the Waterside.

The final game is a real winner takes all meeting as Alresford host Pagham. The home side have yet to gain a point at home whilst Pagham have had a dreadful run since winning their opening two games of the season. The outcome is really too difficult to predict.

In Division One, New Milton travel to Fleetlands for a game that has a 2.00 kick off and may not find it easy to collect the three points while second place Downton are also on the road with a journey to bottom Club Fleet Spurs. Without being disrespectful the law of averages says that the North Hampshire Club must win soon but it is difficult to see it being this Saturday.

COMING UP - FIXTURES IN FULL

Andover New Street have a local derby with the visit of a Whitchurch side that came close to defeating New Milton last week while Newport’s impressive away form could see them come out on top at Millbrook. Andover Town are also away as they visit Verwood, never an easy place to win,and they may have to settle for a share of the points.

Petersfield make their second visit to Ringwood in almost as many weeks and will be looking to repeat their League Cup victory but Romsey, seemingly not in form at present, will do well to gain anything at Hamworthy Recreation.

East Cowes Vics need to turn home draws in to victories but may have to share the points again when Fawley cross the Solent (earlier KO here at 2.45pm) and there is an intriguing game at Ash where Amesbury make what is possibly their first ever visit. The Wiltshire side are in need of points and have shown signs of improvement of late and may possibly cause a surprise.

Into November already but still a long way to go.
