WEEKEND REVIEW - APRIL 22

April 23, 2023

Saturday's results failed to decide the destination of the Premier Division title, with all eyes on Tuesday for the decisive round of fixtures.

Bemerton kept their slim mathematical hopes of the title alive with a 1-2 win at Horndean, with neither AFC Portchester or AFC Stoneham in action.

Horndean will finish in the top two due to a far superior goal difference, and will win the title if they beat Portland on Tuesday.

LEAGUE TABLES

Baffins Milton Rovers won by the odd goal in nine in a pulsating fixture at Christchurch.

At the foot of the table Blackfield & Langley's 5-2 victory over Pagham was enough to escape the drop zone. Laverstock & Ford recorded a 3-0 victory over Alresford Town at Church - The Bulldogs sit comfortably in eighth in their first season since returning to the Premier Division.

Elsewhere, should Bournemouth were defeated 4-2 at Hamble Club. The Poppies need to beat - or get a draw - against Moneyfields, to stay up. If they lose and Pagham beat Baffins, the Lions stay up on better goal difference.

Moneys shared a 1-1 draw with Cowes Sports, with Brockenhurst and Hythe & Dibden also recording the same scoreline. The mid-table game at Cockrams saw hosts Shaftesbury get the better of Fareham Town by three goals to one.

FIXTURES

The play-off spots in Division One are confirmed with the top four all winning - including a thumping 5-0 triumph for champions Andover New Street at home to East Cowes Victoria, while Hamworthy Recreation (pictured) handed out a 3-0 defeat to Petersfield Town, who make up the final play-off spot.

At the bottom, Ash United's two-nil loss at New Milton Town confirmed the Green Army will finish in the bottom three, with Ringwood Town collected the point they needed to stay out of the danger zone in a 2-2 draw at Totton & Eling.

The points were also shared between Fleetlands and Millbrook in their 3-3 draw.

Duarte Martins put the Purps ahead early in the second half, before the hosts levelled through Henry Watson with six minutes remaining in front of 674 at Hanbury Park Stadium.
